I'm 17 and looking for my first job (part time).
All the job searches online are 18+ required.

How do I start? What do I need to do?

There are a lot of ways you can look for a job being 17 years old. Besides looking online, you can also browse through the newspaper adds, visit places, like restaurants, stores etc, and apply in person. As you have probably noticed there are a lot of stores or fast food places that have ads on the entrance doors saying "we need help", or "we hire".

However, if you want to think about further goal of your life, not just immediate need, than it would be helpful to decide what kind of jobs seem to be most attractive to you: is it medical field, food industry, retail or may be office work. There are a lot of programs that provide education to beginners. They do not take a long time. But it might be extremely helpful for you to have a certificate of education.

It would be helpful for you to find one stop employment agency in your city that can assist you with the job search and necessary education.

You can also visit state employment agency that is closest to you and ask if they can help you. They have a lot of public information or at least they can refer you to a place that might be able to help.

One more option is to contact employment agency. They will be willing to help you also.

Well, pick up the newspaper of your city and read those want ads! Do it the old fashioned way. Otherwise, head on out to your local mall or fast food joint(s) and start filling out the applications. Soon you'll be wearing a visor and askin', "Do you want fries with that?"

Seriously, there are plenty of jobs for 17 year olds out there, and they're all pretty much the same. Telemarketing, fast food, clothing/record stores, etc. I did 'em all. Most are minimum wage, unless you're extra lucky. Good luck...you'll find something.

Your area also might have the want ads(classifieds) online, too. Then you can do it from your computer. Some bigger places have online applications, too.

I would recommend trying to find a job at a restaurant, such as serving. You can make lots of money and depending on the place it is usually pretty flexible hours. I would just go to the restaurants and ask for applications and to talk to a manager on duty. Be sure to go at off times, so it is not too busy. You can always call ahead to see what a good time to stop in would be. Good luck in your job search.
