an apple contains atoms of iron...so these atoms of iron react with moisture in the air and form rust..so the apple appears brown in colour..!!

It depends on the temperature in the room,all apples do not become rotten in any given dining table at the same time.

Apples really need to be refrigerated. They look nice in a bowl on the table and smell great too, but according to the produce guy on Ch.2 they must be kept cold.

it is because of the absoption of moisture from the air
and once the moisture is absorbed bacteria and fungi start reacting on it
