Elizabeth Tudor was the second legitimate child of King Henry XVIII, born from Queen consort Anne Boleyn in the year 1533.
Anne Boleyn was executed when Elizabeth was very young. Elizabeth was sent to King Henry's northern castles. When King Henry XVIII died his throne was abdicated to his extremely young son Prince Phillip, who died shortly thereafter. With no male heirs left, the throne was given to Mary Tudor.
Since Mary was a die hard Catholic, since her mother (Katherine of Aragon) was a hard core catholic, and she threw off her father's church thus making a sort of holy war within England.
During this time Mary is positive that her half-sister is trying to kill her, so Mary locks Elizabeth up in the tower of London. Then when people within Mary's court finally talk some sense into her she lets Elizabeth out only to put her into house arrest for a good year or so before Mary finally dies of a sickness.
Elizabeth Tudor becomes Elizabeth Rex, Queen of England.
A good book to read about this from a different perspective, beware that it's partly fictional, The Virgin's Lover.
Elizabeth was involved in a scandal that will never be solved with Sir Robert Dudley, a former traitor to the crown.
It's all very interesting.
Try renting not only the Cate Blanchett version of Elizabeth I, but look for the PBS or BBC mini-series version on her. You should be able to find a lot of them in the documentaries section.
Hope some of this helps.

Huh. I'd suggest finding a book - I'd even suggest a title. But if you can't find her on the internet, I don't see how you'd find a library, much less a particular book in one. Sigh. She was only the most powerful woman in Europe. She guided the English navy to defeat the Spanish Armada. While she was queen, some of the greatest plays of the English language were written - Marlowe, Kyd, Jonson, this guy named Shakespeare. And she cured polio. Try doing some research before you start asking for help.
