To be frank, yes you do need to find more work. If that makes too much money for you then go out and help those that need help.
Sad that as a so called intellectual you feel that you cannot work that out for yourself...

If your work contract forbids you doing any other employment then I could understand your problem. You could ask them if you could do some voluntary work with some of your free time, there are probably loads of local groups and charities who could benefit from your skills.

If you're using a works pc, be careful about connecting it to the net. Use a limited account to connect to the internet, run a full security suite, and keep your work files in a password protected virtual safe, such as Steganos Security Safe.
You are responsible for the data on your machine.

To get the best from the internet on dial up, install Mozilla Firefox web browser and stop using Internet Explorer, add the Ad Block plug in to speed up browsing. Don't expect to be able to download large files like movies.

You could learn a new interest. Take up digital photography. Do an Adobe Photoshop course. Learn how to write a website. Go to adult education classes and learn about your computer and how to use it, but don't just sit at home, you'll go nuts.

The only jobs you can do at home -- that I found -- are either
computer-related (and your computer skills do seem very strong!) and
home-based customer service representative or home-based call center
representative. Unless you want to start up a business of some sort,
you're limited to jobs that primarily involve computer/Internet or
phone work.

Your best bet is to go through very respected sites, like Monster,
even though you will have to commit a lot of time to hunting and
weeding.

There is a website that does this already and they post daily telecommute jobs. The jobs where you must send them a resume and interview for them, and some of them have benefits.

Many of them are sales or web programming jobs, but there are some for customer service and clerical type work.

The link is in the source.

Try using E-Bay to Buy and Sell Items to make more money or Try using a Share dealing service such as T D Waterhouse (or similar) to start your own portfolio. If you got all that time on your hands why not search for a cheapo Holiday or Flight?

You could subscribe to a service that lets you download music and films. You could get hooked on on-line games where you compete online against others. You could join online discussion groups on topics that you care about. You could stay up on the latest news by putting a bunch of newspapers onto your home page. You could be the first Yahoo Answers person to get 500,000 points by spending night and day answering questions.
