this hurts my head :(

quarter = 2(0.05)? then you would need 10 to make a dollar i guess ...
1 dime = 4(0.05)
dollar - 4(0.05) = 0.80
replaced with quarters would be 2 quarters if one quarter equals 2(0.05)

2 nickels = 10 cents. If 2 nickels are a quarter, a quarter would be 10 cents, thus needing 10 quarters for a dollar.
If you lost a dime that was worth 4 nickels and 2 nickels are 1 quarter, then you need only two quarters to replace that lost dime.

If 2 nickels were called a quarter, then you'd need 10 quarters to make a dollar. Then if you lost a dime that was worth nickels and had to replace it with quarters ... then what is your question about that? (Instead of "podering," did you mean "poddering"? -- or maybe "puttering," or maybe "pootering"?)(Also, I think you meant nickles, not nickels.)
