My piggie has a large food dish set up where he just eats out of everyday for pellets. I fill it up when its low, its just a place of constant munchies if he needs it (and he eats when he's hungry so don't be afraid of making him a chubby pig!).

You should feed him a heaping helping of fresh fruit and veggies everyday (avocados and pears are posionous to piggies so don't feed them those!).

Timothy hay (it is the best because it is processed and sold in many stores) should also be part of your piggie's diet. I feed my piggie hay twice a week (when I clean out the cage). I put it in a toilet paper tube so he has to "wrestle" it out of the tube (so it's food and a toy!). I also feed him a little bit of hay throughout the week.

Guinea pigs may also require mineral wheels or salt wheels. If you cannot find these wheels there are pills that you can drop in their water bottles.

Also some kind of chewy toy or wood strips are good for piggies to keep their teeth from growing. (They have a similar tooth growth like beavers.)

I feed my guinea pig 1/8 cup of Oxbow Pellets once a day. He then gets free choice timothy hay or orchard grass hay. Remember guinea pigs need a daily source of Vitamin C in the form of dark green leafy veggies or fruits high in Vitamin C.

Hay is the most important of a hind gut fermenter's diet. Pellets are high in calories and can lead to obesity if overfed.

Twice the main food, Am and PM,Hay should be available all the time so it can chew otherwise teeth grow too long, and then in the afternoon give some fruit, orange, apple etc. You Do know that it needs Vitamin C>
