It seems to me that the growing discontent over the war coupled with the Dem victory in the House and Senate has led the Dem party to believe that they are an in for 08. I believe this is why they have the 2 biggest underdogs in the press so far; a black Muslim & a women who has been largely disliked for years.

The problem with this logic as I see it is most Americans are more interested in superficial things such as American Idol & Justin Timberlake to pay much attention to politics. Therefore it's a sad fact that many voters are intensely swayed by name recognition & vague basic stats or emotional ties to each candidate.

Regardless of the growing discontent with the war, I do not believe most Americans will elect a Muslim. Bush got reelected after all.

I think if Giuliani whom everyone knows & holds with positive emotional connotations (911) comes in, the election will go Rep. against the polls and odds.

Opinons?

I would like to clarify.

I KNOW OBAMA ISN'T A PRACTICING MUSLIM

However, he of Muslim heritage as the late Barack Hussein Obama, Sr was Muslim.

I believe this is enough for most Americans.

To you people who think there is no strategy do you really think that they are not strategizing with only a year left to go???? Puuleese! That would be so effing retarded.

Then again, they are Democrats...

The Republicans are pretty much handing it to the Democrats and all they are bringing is Obama, Clinton, Edwards (big snicker), Biden, and a guy who's name is real similar to Ballsack. They need to have somebody stronger or I think a Republican will take it. It's going to be hysterical.

Personally, I don't think the Democrats have actually formed a solid strategy yet. how could they. When they are elected it will be their job to try and clean up the horrid mess that Bush and the Republicans have made3.

And unfortunately they will have to do some things that will be wildly unpopular, like raising taxes.. maybe bringing back the draft...No one is going to like it.. but lets face it, Bush has got this country is such a mess, morally and financially that someone is going to have to bite the bullet and do it.

it would be nice too, if somehow they can win back the friendship of all the countries around the world that Bush has alienated through his arrogance. i feel bad for the Democrats.. it is not going to be easy.

I and my fellow new Yorkers know Giuliani for the arrogant 2-faced bastard he really is. He happened to be mayor of NYC at the time of 9/11 and took advantage of the situation for political reasons. Does that make him a hero or a good presidential candidate? If you think it does, then you are exceedingly naive.

The Democrat's strategy?

Uhhhh.... I think it would be a good idea for them to have one.

Then, if it doesn't work, they can just go back to Bush bashing.

they have a strategy? i haven't heard anything but what is wrong with the republicans strategy... e.g "We shouldn't do that, but we don't know what we would do, but we know you are wrong." and then they say something about global warming...thats about how the '08 election will go...
