To improve athletic skills, you train and then practice, practice, practice. It's no different with communications skills. First, learn more about effective communication. The net or your local library both offer great resources. Then, if you want to hone your verbal communications skills, join a discussion group that focuses on topics of interest to you; volunteer to teach or tutor others in an area in which you're skilled; or join a debating team. To improve written communications skills: write! Write letters to distant friends and family; keep a diary or journal; write articles for newsletters or the local paper; start blogging; or even answer questions at Yahoo answers.

If you want to improve your spoken English skills, try following few methods:

1. Practice speaking, the more you practice the more you will get confident and habitual with the language.

2. Make friends with whom you can practice speaking in English.

3. Read Newspapers, books, articles, blogs etc., also listen to English news and radio broadcasts.

4. Try to learn new words and phrases and start using them gradually.

These are only a few steps which can help in improving your English. If you further want to improve your communication skills opt for some language institutes like inlingua. They have specific courses tailored to suit your requirement and help you in improving your English skills.
