My monitor just gave out. Was working fine, before going to black. It will turn on for a split second before shutting off again. The same thing happened to my tower and it was the power supply, could it be the same thing for my monitor?

See if you can borrow a friend's monitor. If it works than the monitor is your problem. If not it probably is your video card.

No, could be the backllight of the monitor. See if the monitor is under warranty. Possible other hardware failure with your monitor. If you have an extra monitor, try it on the PC to see whether it is the PC or the monitor.

Im sorry this is an example of someone not putting on a surge protector people. If your computers worth more money than 300 dollars I recommend surge protecting it with a decent surge protector the method I use is a 22 dollar POS surge protector with the battery back up power supply being protected by it which is also surge protected. And dont use those 5 dollar POS things at walmart they dont do anything for major surges.

Check the power settings in "Start" "Control Panel" "Power Options" and make sure the monitor is set to "Never".

First, have your monitor test on other cpu to check is it the hardware in cpu or the monitor, if its ok on other pc then probably its the graphic card.. if not then you should contact your provider bout that monitor to repair that. =)
