All generations of teens find some way to distinguish themselves from their parents' generation by their speech. We were cool and groovy. I lost track after that except for the Valley Girls and their self-imposed dumb talk. They'll grow out of it when their parents no longer pay the rent.

I think that teens who talk like that and who write using "i-m-speak" are putting themselves at a severe disadvantage for ever getting a real job. They come off as sounding really stupid, when they may be smart. It's sad, really.
