Now for the right answser.

Loosely. When the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original 1974 version) was released it was written with the crimes of Plainfield, Wisconsin grave-robber and murder Ed Gein in mind. Ed Gein murdered a local female (Berniece Worden) store keep in Plainfield, and took her body to his home where he hung it upside in his toolshed, gutted her remains, removed her head and arms and dressed her (as in dressing cattle when butchered, not as in dressing Elton John for a press conference) and left her remains in his shed until he was discovered a few days later.

The investigation revealed that Ed had murdered his mother and kept her remains in his home after removing her body from her coffin PRIOR to her burial. He had also dug up the remains of a few other local women and kept them in his home as well.

The bizarre activities of Ed Gein were the inspiration for AT LEAST four movies: Psycho (1960), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Maniac (1974), Silence of the Lambs (1991), and In the LIght of the Moon (2001).

And there you have an accurate AND informative answer.

no, it was based on a story where a farmer dug up graves and made stuff out of it, or ate it..or whatever....and one of the bodies were allegedly someone's new corpse or whatever. and NO it was not because he killed people with chainsaws..just a story, the directors made up. so there you go, I researched it once and it isn't true.
