If she's not TOTALLY disabled. Try getting Home Health aid of some kind. See if that will fly first before going to a nursing home. I use to work in a nursing home. I felt so bad for a lot of those elderly people in there. So lonely. They always loved to talk to you. Cause no one else ever wanted to.

Hospice care would not be right for this person assuming this person does not have a medical diagnosis/condition that doctors have estimated that this person would have 6 months left to live (as defined my many hospice institutions). Hospice care would also only be for "comfort care" in preperation for death within the near future.

This person who lives alone cannot be forced into an assisted living home, unless they can't decide for themselves. Psychologically it is a big decision for them. Most do not want to go into assisted living. Those who do have a feeling of their independence stripped from them. First, I suggest looking for a trained "live-in caregiver" (expensive). They are hard to find but maybe there are some community resources locally that can point you into that direction. If that doesn't work then maybe talking to this person (if you are close to this person) and try to address your concerns. Assisted living may be the only way in the long run though. And judging by the lack of mobility presented in the question there will be a serious risk for bed sores for this person.

If she is of sound mind and body, and isn't a danger to herself or others, then no. Home health aids are an option if she can afford that. You would have to prove she is a danger to herself before a judge, yes, a judge, would order that. So, you are talking getting lawyers, judges, Public Health, and her physician involved.

Hospice care is end of life care. Most that I am aware of you have to have a diagnosis indicating the person will likely not survive another 6 months to a year. It isn't just for "old people."

If possible, please see about an assisted living place, or a really good nursing home. I don't really care for nursing homes, but if she unfortunately needs to be in one-then she does.***** Is there any way she could possibly have someone move in and be a care giver for her instead? Please talk with agencies like Catholic Comm. Services, and other home care agencies in your local area. That would be the best for her-she can stay in her home, and still get the care she needs. Take care.

This person needs to be evaluted by a medical professional and then social services needs to be involved also. If the person can not take care of him/herself, then, placement could be up to the decison of the family, doctor, and social services. This person is at risk for injuring themselves by not be able to transfer. Possibly a home health agency can be utilized to stay with this person and help..

They have hospice care for that sort of situation. But if she doesn't have family,a social worker will have to evaluate her condition. Most likely she will have to go live in a nursing home. They will take good care of her.
