Yes, but on the condition that Tom Glavine and Pedro stay healthy the entire season. Their hitting is absolutely amazing: they run well, hit for contact well, and hit for power well.
Primarily, the National League is so average that if all of the pieces fall together for the Mets around September/October, and they can keep their team relatively injury-free, they should be able to get past whoever they face in the National League playoffs (all the possible contenders: Dodgers, Cardinals, Braves, Phillies, have big question marks)

It's not that they don't have any pitching, the team actually has a surplus of questionable pitching, which is something they can get away with if the bullpen performs as well as it did last season. In 2006 that bullpen was pretty much lights out from the sixth inning on. If the rag-tag collection of arms they have assembled for 2007 can cobble together five solid innings each outing the 'pen can take it from there.
I think with Glavine, El Duque, Maine, Sosa, Soler, Humber, Perez, Pelfrey, Williams and eventually Pedro...the rotation looks decent enough to carry the team. Look at last season, the Mets essentially had the same non-existent rotation come playoff time and they were still within one Carlos Beltran base hit from the World Series...
The Mets are a scary, scary team in the National League...with or without top-flight pitching....

No team proved more that the regular season was useless than the St. Louis Cardinals. They had just about no pitching but they did have Carpenter. Yet the Mets have Glavine and Martinez. Everyone ought to know by now that the playoffs isn't about the best team, its about the team who works the hardest, wants it the most, and the most importanted thing...a hot streak. A hot streak proves to be the best way to win a championship. The Florida Gators for basketball and even football, The Pittsburgh Steelers, The Indiannapolis Colts, The Cardinals, The White Sox. All these teams won on hot streaks and hot streaks is were it is at. Yes the Mets have enough to win a World Series.

I hope so. It would be enough, the Mets still have their bull pen in tact as well as their starters. Pitching is a key component to winning games, but you forgot about their defence in the infield and outfield. That and the offensive power should lift the confidence of Met pitchers to get them the World Series title.

No, it isn't. They need pitching to get into the World Series.

They have an excellent batting order but unfortunately they cannot get anyone out. Look for the Dodgers to be a major factor. Their starting pitching with Penny and Schmidt could make them tough to beat.

maybe....they sure have enough hitting.
I think their lack of pitching will be compensated for their offensive speed and production, but then again pitching does win ball games. I think this year you can expect alittle more competition from the their rival nl east teams....last year was a wake up call for them. only time will tell.....should be interesting.

pitching to me is like 75 percent of the game" but hitting is essencial as well. im just enphasizing. anyways yeah reds needed a pitcher badly, they had a great offence but couldn't win. they were 1st many times but soon dropped in rankings. im sure the mets wont make it but theirs always hope. they do have good hitters. but for me pitching is the most/ one of the most important parts of the game.
