Passwords are used to protect you from someone who wants to access something private. Therefore you make up your own passwords to protect whatever, and no one knows what those passwords are. Some places allow you to give a password hint that they can email you to remind you - for example, a hint might be "my dog' if your password is the name of your dog. Some places have a feature where you log in then click on "Forgot your password?", then they email it to you. This is not very safe since it is easy to hack.
Anyway, now you know to write down passwords you can't remeber by association with something else.
