There are a lot of biotech and tech companies in western Mira Mesa/Sorrento Valley area. I believe Qualcomm has their offices in that area.

In Mira Mesa proper, there are several areas that are older businesses, such as Cox Cable and MiraMar Marine Corp Air Base. There are a lot of furniture stores in the area and a lot of small industrial parks with a host of businesses.

I recommend doing a search for "San Diego" the industry you're interested in and the zipcode '92126'. If you then go to a tool like google maps, it will show you where the businesses are located and other similar businesses in the area.
