what's a good way to "self-monitor" your own performance at work?

Sometimes I just like to know that I'm doing okay, and I wonder if there are any clues/signs that you look for that might help me?

My work is a little bit different than most. Everything I do has a job order with the hours it pays. An average day for me is 10-12 hours work in 8. usually, if I don't have time to talk with anyone It's a good day.

Ask your supervisor if you're work's been satisfactory and
if there's anything you could do to improve your efficiency.
She/He will admire your straightforward approach. If you
work in a corporative environment, this approach is far
better than winging it on your own. If you're still set on
self-monitor mode, stretch yourself to refine your tasks,
go the extra mile in taking on new responsibilities and
know that you're giving 100% every day. The "clues"
are inside of you and your real sense of accomplishment.
