Are you being serious? There are many from many different tribes that are alive and thriving on many different reservations in this country. There are also many that have moved off the rez and assimilated into society. Oh, they do not wear loincloths any more or hunt buffalo. They live essentially normal lives like we do, except with a much higher rate of poverty, alcoholism, and suicide. Why do you ask? If you have a more detailed question, please feel free to contact me.

Yep and some Native Americans still practice their tradtional religion and make their traditional homes made out of mud. I forgot what they called those houses made out of mud. Theres a lot of Americans with Native Indian blood in them. So I am not sure what you define a native American as some one who still lives by traditional methods or by their culture or by their DNA and I dont even know if you can classiy Native Americans by their DNA because it could vary a lot and so called native Americans could have more similiar to DNA to some indians and not others.
So I am not sure what the classification of a Native American is, DNA, culture, language, or how many generations has lived in America or if one is of so called mixed blood if having some of thier ancestors lived in America for thousand of years. I am not sure what you mean.

wow ..this is such an old post but i cant help but speak out ....i am INDIAN (not native american i am from INDIA ) ..why i answer is that its such a nice thing to see that people getting in touch with their heritage .i am a computer science student but race and religion and their vastness yet convergence always fascinated me ... if i am not wrong , native americans had a very pure and untouched from the rest of the world life till the turning of the last century or two .Which would have given us a fascinating insight as to how a civilization survives and grows disjoint from another in the same world .Their religious thoughts and ideals ..would they converge to early civilizations akin the indus valley or the egyptian ..while the mayans were advanced builders ...what was the expertise that this culture had dealt in ....what was their indigenous technology of the times ....it would be a fascinating study in comparative religion and literature ....i am sorry since i am not of much help regarding finding people of your own kin ..but your post did provide a wonderful thought which can be studied immensely

Absolutely, Native Americans are still here.
Most "modern" people are too busy to notice them.
Many have been assimilated.
Many of the decendants have part of the blood lines.
But many are returning to the old ways, and learning things about life and nature that the "European" types lost.
The Native Americans are still among us, and they keep alive a way of life that we need to learn if we are to avoid destroying our planet. They don't take out ads in the Times. They are among us and they live in a good way. Watch, and listen, and learn.

Sure there are Indians still around, but there is no such thing as "Native Americans". We all came from somewhere else, even the indians.

yes! go to utah (duh we're named after an indian tribe), arizona, new mexico, nevada, or california and you'll find tons! pretty much anywhere in the southwest you can find pure bred indians. i'm mixed white and native american and you'll find alot of those too! in wyoming they do rendez-vous still which is where you can find full indians and they do tribal dances. it's so cool! oh yeah that chick above me is right, go to oklahoma. that's where my native ancestors are from (cherokee and chomanche)

Move up to Montana. We have 5 huge reservations and one small one. There are literally thousands of them running all over the place.
