runescape and maplestory are 2 that I can think of (both at their respective sites). Others that I know aren't for free, but good luck.

Anarchy Online (www.anarchy-online.com) is a great Sci-Fi based MMO, although it is a few years old. It has a basic FTP option, and an advanced PTP version.
Also, Knight Online (www.knightonlineworld.com) is another option, and an advantage to this is that the FTP version has the exact content as the PTP.

You can try some RPG's like Maple Story or Knights Online (dont know if Knights Online still exists)
