That depends on the type of welding being done and the environmental precaustions used.

If you weld galvanized steel with no fume extraction life expectancy is pretty short! of course you will be so looney by then you won't care!

If fume extraction is adequate and all safety measres are followed, a welder can expect a very normal life span.

I don't know any statistics. But I think it is very important to use all the safety precautions which includes, training and equipment. This includes covering the entire body as I have noticed welders with tanned arms.

welding is a very hazardous and rewarding field....welding is like crossing a busy street....if you are careful and take care of yourself you will cross many times.....so if you work safely and always wear your personal protective equipment you will out-live everyone.
