I'm 20, in college, and have not even entertained the idea of moving out. Rent in Hawaii is outrageous, and I just would not be able to afford it. I will be in school full time next school year, then part time for the next year finishing my degree in engineering. Should I move out then? I don't want to be a college graduate living at home.

Another problem is that I am not a social person outside of my family, and I worry that I will become like a hermit if I were to live on my own.

I pay my own tuition, and will have to buy a car this summer to go to my job (off of the bus route). I do work right now, but it just isn't enough to live on my own...

stay with your parents until you have finsihed college as long as they don't mind .....parents love their children and want to see them sucessful and if that means living at home for a few years then so be it....as long as you are pulling your own weight at home they shouldn't mind at all.....i was 19 years old and with a child when i moved out and i made it just fine things were a little tight but i made it threw of course every time i stumbled my parent were there to help me up.....you will be fine on your own for some reason we all make it through.....and your parents will always be there for support when you need it i am sure they want you to spread your wings and fly....that is why people have children in the first place..to watch them grow up and fly

I moved out at 18 to go to college then moved back for a couple months at age 20, until I could afford a place of my own.

I moved out when I was 22, so I would not worry about moving out if you can handle living at home then stay until you are done with school and find a job so you are capable of paying your rent.
