Do I need a transformer as well as an adapter?

No, all you need is a US cable, and possibly to switch your computer to 110V current if it doesn't do so automatically. All computers can "digest" a range of 100 to 240V.

Hi, regarding your issue, what You'll need a universal power adapter, and also, check your power supply if it has a toggle switch between 110 V to 240V, most new PSU's have that. However, if you don't have it, you'd rather get a transformer for your system.
