don't want one of those that hide in your desktop and popup when you give it a word to correct, I need one in word itself. I got such a terrible review on some chapters I sent into youwriteon.com that I need help badly. Commas are another sore point I don't know where to put them! Please can someone help me. I'm desperate.
If you give me a site name how do I get it into word, as it says it has a custom dictionary installed and it has but I need an Australian one as well as Word's?
Thanks.

Go into tools, click on set language, you will get every possible regional usage, select Australian and click on default. I use UK and Canadian, myself.
Commas are a b i t c h. I always remember that you always need fewer than you think you do. And I have a little punctuation handbook, which also says commas are a b i t c h.

Hi,

I don't know if there is a difference with MS Word from other countries, but if you have a copy of MS Word purchased in Australia, you already have an Australian dictionary installed.

There are generally two problems.

1. The most common problem is setting the Regional Settings via Control Panel. If these aren't set correctly, most people have problems.

The following is how to set the Regional settings.

Select Start -> Control Panel -> ..... Regional options -> Regional and Language options

Under Regional options select Australia.
Under Language select Details. Add English (Australia) as a service. Select English (Australia) as the Default input language.
Under Advance tab select English (Australia).

If this is done correctly, when you create a new document in MS Word, it will use Australian English. Test using the words color and colour.

For old documents you then need to use Control+A and change the language.

2. The second problem is with the words spelt with "ize".

Some people don't consider a word such as "organize", to be the correct Australian spelling.

This is not correct as both spellings are correct in Australia, but try to argue with the person reviewing your work and see how far you get;-)

If you want to have "ize" words (organize) marked as incorrect, you need to get a comprehensive Exclude file for MS Word.

The suggested file also picks other words such as "mom" and "mommy".

The link provided has instructions on how to install the file.

I hope that helps.

I dont know about Word, I use MS Works, but I would check in your tools menu, look at options and see if you can change your dictionary there. I know I can do this in MS Works. Just a suggestion.
