My bag was 22 pounds when I was around 14 years old. It was crazy to lug that much weight to school everyday. It hurt quite a lot in the beginning. Luckily, I didn't have to bear with it for long as my parents bought me an ergonomic bag- it reduces the pressure on the back (if i'm not mistaken) so I wouldn't have to hunch. It was a godsend.

TN 9th Grade
My son's backpack weighs 12lb.
He complains about his shoulder hurting all the time and when I carry it for him it makes my shoulder hurt too. He is a car rider so he doesn't have to carry it long but his room is upstairs so he does his homework downstairs so he want have to carry it upstairs.

i carry a huge back pack, like 10-20 pounds a day, for about 6-10 hours. i don't mind because at lunch i put my back pack in my next period so that helps i only carry it around school when i change period so yeah i don't mind but i miss when you back pack was light, oh grade umm for average a B or A

most of the days my backpack is heavy. most of my grades are above 89. I am a freshman.
