Where can I find the definitions for root words? Like..cid, comp..Thanks

Almost all of these "root" words come from either Latin or Greek - the majority from Latin plus a fair number from Greek. There are a number of Latin and Greek roots sites on the web, of which this is an example:

For example, "cid", meaning kill, comes from the Latin verb caedere, meaning to cut down or kill.
