This is such a sad question. Europe is a continent...not a country. George Bush is fully aware that not every country in Europe is a close ally. With a such a seriously flawed question, I'm finding it difficult to answer. Furthermore, it would certainly be difficult to determine what George Bush believes about it; accordingly, I don't think he'd be silly enough to come right out and claim "closest" allies, namely because you run the risk of hurt feelings if someone important is left off the list. It's kind of like inviting people to a wedding. If I invite so and so, then I have to invite their family and so and so as well. So you have to be careful. This is really such a sad question.

Europe has always been Americas closest ally. Why wouldn't anyone believe that what has always been would not be now. However it has become clear in recent years that France is no longer an ally because they have been involved in corruption, bribery, and treasonous scandals involving oil and, of course money is the bottom line. When the US went into Iraq to protect Iraqi citizens from a tyrannical murderous dictator and to destroy the terrorist Alcaida training camps in order to protect America from another 911, they also uncovered the corrupt dealings that France was involved in with Saddam Hussein and they hate us for that. Right now there are some European countries that hate us because of the trend that has spread over there. However just because some countries are smearing us does not mean we deserve it. Let us Never forget that it was America that liberated France from the clutches of Germany in WWI. Let us also never forget that in WWII it was America who again came to France's rescue and liberated them from the Nazis. If it were not for the United States they would be speaking German in France. Not to mention that the US spent 10 years and billions of dollars to rebuild France after the war. And it was not only France, but most European countries that were protected and liberated and then rebuilt by the Americans. If any country in Europe says that they hate us, they become the most arrogant and ungrateful people on earth because of the good we have historically done for them many times. What do you suppose the bottom line is? MONEY of course. All evil can trace its roots in money. What a sad thing that a country could turn against its greatest benefactor , but it is understood that the bad thing has happened because of money. Jacques Chiraq is the biggest culprit in the turning of Europe against the US. because of his own illegal deals and corruption for oil and money so he tries to make everything Bush's fault. Shame on him and God bless America and President Bush.

I hope not...with allies like the one's in Europe...we wouldn't need enemies. Europeans are pretty disgusted with U.S. now. Certainly even Bush can see that.

He doesn't care if they have turned our backs on us. He is such a real Man. We don't need allies. The Brits hate him the Germans want to charge the administration "With Crimes against Humanity" for us older folks: he gave new Meaning to the term "The Ugly American".
This was a post War attitude of Americans and there arrogance as well as a book. Then it was grossly exaggerated.

No, he's WAY too dumb to believe any European country is our closest ally. He believes Israel is our closest ally. Which is why we're in the bind we're in!
