where are you from??? send some of that heat my way... our high today was about 15 degrees fahrenheit, with the wind chill it was more like 0!

i don't think there is anything you can do to start labor - my water broke early, and we tried to get labor to start so i wouldn't have to be induced. my midwife said that all of the tricks (like the ones people here have been posting) will help labor get going if it has already started, but if your cervix isn't dilated and ready, there is nothing you can do but wait it out...

ah all that sex everyone suggests in this heat LOLOL
there's not really much you can do,I had a summer baby too. you can try the usual things to cool down, I recommend getting into cool water somewhere, who do you know owns a pool? you are weightless in water,so it will take the weight off your back and bladder.Libraries are always air conditioned, and they usually have a comfy reading area, you could head there for a while. None of this is going to bring on your baby but at least you will be cooler and more comfy:) Perhaps you can have sex before you go,drink some castor oil and drive over all the speed bumps on the way :)good luck.

I used a breast pump when I was exactly 38 weeks preg. I wasn't dilated or effaced at all. I used it on each breast for twenty minutes and had my daughter about 8 hours later. THIS WILL CAUSE CONTRACTIONS! Nipple stimulation releases a hormone that is similar to pitocin which is what they give you at the hospital to induce labor.

Good luck!
Also castor oil just made me throw up, I used it during my first pregnancy at 39 weeks and it was awful!! I didn't go into labor either!

I agree with everyone else avoid the castor oil, I was a week over due and so miserable at that point I tried it with little success. I finally went into labor after a good session with the vibrator and quite a bit of stair walking.

I tried all the advices above and nothing worked for me... so I asked my doctor to stripe my membranes and I went to labor in 28 hours. My baby boy was born at 38 weeks and 3 days.

My husband and I drove over speed bumps around 8pm because I was 2 weeks late. Around 11pm my water broke. 7pm the next day my 8lb15 1/2 oz boy came out! Make sure and go over the speed bumps at an angle, you get more movement that way! Good luck and have fun!

There are all the previous different halves thoughts....walking, exceptionally spiced nutrition, intercourse, and so on. no longer something is shown to artwork...or you will not be waiting to do all those issues in the previous you have been finished term lest they placed you in hard artwork. the actuality is, it relatively wont harm you to stroll and regardless of if it would not placed you into hard artwork it could make you extra gentle and you would be no worse of which you would be able to as nicely attempt it. regrettably you may desire to nonetheless be pregnant for yet another couple weeks nonetheless. I walked around 5 cm dilated for almost each week.

I tried every old wives tale to kick start labour. The only thing that worked was begging my doctor to induce me. She erased my due date and wrote a new one, she then wrote a letter to the hospital and said take this to the hospital right now and they will induce you. I had my daughter 9 hours later. Good luck!

If your cervix isn't ripe, nothing is going to help. But if your dialated and effaced then you can try the basics, sex, walking, etc.

Stay away from castor oil!
