I like playing slow acoustic songs, but Ive run out of ideas. I like playing Pink floyds songs, Neil Young, anything with a slow strum. I need new ideas. Thanks.

Don't know how far back you want to go, but there was a surge of singer-songwriters and guitar-friendly country rock around 1970. Perhaps you've heard some or would like to learn about the era. A few fine examples:

Simon & Garfunkle
'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'Sounds of Silence', 'I Am a Rock', 'Homeward Bound ', 'For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her', 'Mrs. Robinson', 'A Hazy Shade Of Winter', 'Cecilia', 'The Boxer',....(and those were just the hits!)

Bob Dylan
'The Times, They are A-Changin'', 'Blowin' In The Wind', 'Don't Think Twice, It's All Right', 'Like a Rolling Stone', 'I Want You',....(and on and on)....

Joni Mitchell
'Both Sides Now', 'You Turn Me On', 'Amelia', 'Help Me', 'Urge for Going', 'River'...(perhaps the best lyricist ever)...

James Taylor
'Fire & Rain', 'Carolina in My Mind', 'Country Roads', 'Don't Let Me Be Lonely', 'Something in the Way She Moves'...(for pure love of music)...

Carole King
'A Natural Woman', 'I Feel the Earth Move', 'Sweet Seasons', 'Where You Lead', 'You've Got a Friend'...(behind many of the hits of the 60s & 70s)...

Don McLean
'Vincent', 'Castles in the Air', 'Til Tomorrow'...(you know the song 'Killing me Softly'? It was written about him)...

The Eagles
'Desperado', 'Best of My Love', 'The Boys of Summer', 'Hotel California'...(speaking of The Eagles, how about Jackson Browne?)...

There are many, many more from these and other performers, so the list is practically endless. Most of the songs above had great lyrics too. Almost forgot, since you already play Young, why not Crosby, Stills & Nash too?

Not enough like Pink Floyd? Try Yes or The Moody Blues, David Bowie's early stuff or Led Zeppelin...

Well, one Pink Floyd song that could be played with a slow strum would be "Eclipse."

Also, if you can learn to finger pick learn to play Kansas' "Dust In The Wind." You'll be the envy of soooo many people (even though I found it unbelievably easy to play and learned it in all of 10 minutes time just from listening to it on the radio). I don't know what it is about that song, but everytime I play that song peoples' mouths just drop open.

Who needs to dazzle them with classical guitar when all I have to do is play some Kansas and get the same response!

How long it takes to learn guitar depends on how good you want to get and how much practice you put in. How good you can get with 1-2 hours a day for a few months depends on what methods you use to practice. There are effective practice methods that will help you make the best use of your time. This course is one of the best. https://bitly.im/aMSon It's not just about how much you play but how effectively you play that will determine how good you will get.
