My cats and dogs get along but occasionally they will spat. I use a spray bottle filled with water and in anyone gets into it, they get soaked with water! You have to keep working with them both, eventually they will learn to love each other or at least tolerate each other's existence!

Have you had one longer than the other? If so, there is probably a territorial problem. There are several ways this can be handled. One way is to use crates and place them side by side, but not close enough to either can hurt the other. Let them spend time together like this. Sit between the crates and feed and talk with them. Take each out individually and spend time alone with each right next the the crate of the other. When it is time to get them out, place the dog on a leash and make sure he is calm, release the cat. While you are holding the dog on a leash, Hold the dog and reassure the animal it is OK. Try to keep him/her calm.

The other way is to place the dog on a leash tied to something strong enough to hold it. Wrap the cat in a towel or blanker if it is not declawed and get close enough to the dog and hand feed both of them at the same time. This will take some time and work, but it will get better.

I have worked with animals and the most important is time and patience. I have aa cat and dog and this is what i do when i bring in a new dog/cat. Now they lay next to one another and groom one another. The dog is a lab/cocker mix, so it doesn't matter on the size or type of dog. But just beware, some dogs are just agressive or some cats are too scared. A lot of times it is due to what has happened in their past.

Just be patient and things will work their way out.

Good Luck

Be a little bit strict with the dog, and if necesary, put the cat in a separate room. But they will learn to get along after a while.

Well, I have a cat and dog too, but my dog came in with a cat here...then I got another kitty, they are fine...the problem is usually with the dog, you need to discipline your dog to respect the cat...work on making the cat the pack leader, make the dog submit to the cat...good luck!

How long have you had each animal? Who was first? It could be territorial. Please keep them separated in different rooms, and let them know each other is there-but gradually get accustomed to the other being there. Also have you talked with your vet on this? A spray bottle, filled with water to get them when they are together, but not getting along, will help them learn to cooperate. Take care.
