(HORROR MOVIE FANS) Ringu/The Ring question?

There is a symbol in the movie marked SADA. What does that mean? Is it like in Halloween the THORN symbol. Evil?

First off the ring is a cool movie, and second I do know what the meaning is but I am not going to ruin the mystery for you. I have read the upcoming plots and it does have a minor role.
