It's incredibly crazy. I remember one of the news reporters on ITV News going to the middle east to do a week of reporting there while bombs were going off in the background. I was just thinking 'You d*ckhead, you're endangering the lives of yourself and your crew members just to do a bit of reporting that can be done in the effing studio!!'.

But I guess the producers feel that when something major like this happens, they have to be first on the scene to ensure viewers know what a poultry farm looks like and how to avoid it. I'd p*ss myself with laughter if it turned out that one of those reporters had inadvertantly spread bird flu cos they felt the need to report from the source of infection. Idiots.

I wouldn't put too much store in the rumour that labou are desperate to win the farmers vote. Oh dont get me wrong, the thought of every farmer in Britain voting for Labour would be more than welcome, but the truth is, Labour dont need them. The farmers will always, always always vote Tory. Within the tory values are the articles that the farmers hold most dear, Close all public footpaths (the first topic the farmers screamed for in the recent F&M scare), reap the hideous subsidies from Brussels (remember the butter and milk mountains when the tories were in power), reduction in land and inheritance taxes, reduction or complete loss of the national minimum wage, etc etc etc. Many people think Brown is playing at being a PM, however, what you must remember is that Brown is an accountant, he will make rapid and safe decisions based on the finances of the country. If these financial decisions mean setting up exclusion zones, closing footpaths, banning movements etc etc, then Brown will not hesitate to take them, not only for the good of the country (and it's farmers) but also because it is the best economical solution. I have met Gordon Brown and can tell you that he is one of the cleverest men I have ever met, he is decisive and not afraid to make enemies as well as friends. So if any of Breowns decisions have worked out in favour of the farmers, then it was fundamentally a decision taken in the interests of the country and anything the farmers have gained from such a decision is purely coincidental.

It is just another way of scaring people .

Everybody has to have somebody to protect them now. Nobody can think for themselves anymore, they need somebody to help them.

And plus this is good advertisement for the lucrative medical industry.

I agree entirely. They did exactly the same thing with "Foot and Mouth" and were a big pain in the `foot and mouth` themselves!
