GPA: 4.2~ish; ranked 5 in class...(unweighted 4.0)
graduating GPA should be around 4.5

SAT: I haven't gotten my scores yet...my ACT was low (26) but I didn't study for it...

(I'm a junior at a public high school)
Classes: LOTS of honors, AP Psych, AP Statistics, AP Chemistry, AP US History, AP English Language, AP European History...

Next Year I'm taking AP Calc, AP Government/Econ, AP Biology, AP World History, AP English Literature

Activities: Lacrosse (this year), Japanese Club, Beta Club, National honor society, Academic Team, Renaissance Club, School Magnet program, Marching band (1 year), Model UN (1 year), summer exchange program in Australia, Summer courses at local college...probably 50 hours community service

What can I do to improve my chances? (besides getting a high SAT)

You need to do something special. Joining a bunch of clubs doesn't cut it at the level you're talking about (not sure about Wash-U, but I know the other schools). You definitely need to up your standardized test score. But for the extra curric, do something special. Being a president of a club isn't enough. You need to organize something. Do something unique. Unprecedented. Etc. Something that shows you did something with the club other than win a popularity contest and just sit around eating pizza and drinking soda.

With that ACT score, very unlikely. I know people who have gotten higher without AP or honors classes so that is pretty sad.

Maybe try more interesting clubs, volunteering year round (definitely more than 50 measly hours in the summer), and raising your ACT score. I've been told the ACT is easier than SAT... so..

(someone correct me, isn't GPA only up to 4.0? I was home schooled so I don't know...)

Nothing. My cousin had WAY better stats than you, and got rejected. Try a community college until you get your grades up.

Or try bribing the admissions committee.

PS: You might also want to nix the 'Renaissance club" activities, many frown on that sort of sick behavior. If you make leather mugs, don't tell them that either. They automatically deny admissions to people who work with animal products.
