I often hear about people creating "theme" albums (for example, to commemorate a trip, a wedding, a baby album, etc.) however, what about if you have ideas for pages that you want to scrap that cannot possibly be made into an entire album and do not share a common theme with any other pages that I make. In my case, some of the ideas I have are to create a page about a bracelet that has special meaning to me, and a page about my worst fears, etc. Should I just put all the pages in one book about myself? What about the fact that the pages don't coordinate (different colors, elements?) I would also like to make an album for my brother, but again, about random stuff (my brother's love affair with his car, his surfer boy image, his hopes and dreams, and the like.) Any recommendations, or examples of how you organize your albums, would be greatly appreciated!

You have such great topics, they are so personal. This would make a wonderful scrapbook. You should title your book "About Me". You don't actually have to put those words on the book, you can start the book with a picture of you. People will know the theme when they see your picture. Using a set of colors for each page will give the book a unified look, each page will be part of a 'whole'. If you don't want to use the same colors throughout, you might consider using colors that complement each other. Use a color wheel to do this. If you don't want complementing colors, you might consider using a different color on each page. However, to keep it from looking 'jumbled', use a common element on each page. For example, if you like flowers, use a flower stamp (or freehand) and put it on each page. Put it anywhere on each page, and in any color - just put it on each page. On one page it could be in the corner of a picture, in another, it could be next to the journaling. You are creative, it is evident with your many ideas on subjects for the book - you should have no problem making a beautiful book. Go for it !!

I made A scrap book and I'am here to tell you that it
took me like A couple of years to do it, but it was really
worth the work.
Making A scrap book is about you and you're life, so decorate
it with what you want, use stuff from you're room, candy
wrappers,old jewlry,old clothing,magazines,adding stuff
like this has much more meaning then going to the store
and buying all those stickers and backgrounds !!!

I am trying to get started with scrap-booking myself. I don't think that you have to have a theme for an album. The idea you have sounds very personal to me. There isn't anything wrong with having an eclectic album.

I wouldn't mix up theme's on a page, but within a scrapbook I think it's fine! You could stay within the confine of "family" or "friends" if you wanted to have some sort of limits. Or only "beach pictures" or only "weddings". I think it's less monotone to mix it up though!

you dont have to make each page match, one book about you would be fine another about you brother would also be fine, i often make books with all the family in different situtations. but if you have like pics of your vacation for example you could make a whole book on it. they sell paper packs with tags and stickers etc all matching, but iuse alot of things in my books not from scrapbook stores. movie tickets , buttons etc. you can also scan your pics and do them in black and white and will match any paper you have.i also do two page layouts [MEANING THE PAGES KIND OF MATCH EACH OTHER] this will help your pages somwhat match go to www.diy.com they have several sites and links for ideas. good luck and have fun!
