Why don't you see if music affects physical performance.

Start with how many pushups can John do in 30 seconds with no music.

The next day, how many pushups can John do in 30 secondds, with some quiet, "elevator" music?

The next day, how many pushups can John do with a soft love song?

The next day, how many pushups can John do with some jazz music?

The next day, how many pushups can John do with some old fashioned rock and roll music?

The next day, how many pushups can John do with some loud Alternative music?

The next day, how many pushups can John do with some funky country music?

Then compare the data. Does it make a difference how many pushups John can do depending on the music?

Even if there's no difference, you've then proven that music doesn't affect physical performance. But I bet it does!!!

Try conducting an experiement to show whether diferent music effects how fast a person drives
Ride with different people playing different music types, soft medium, hard core. Get there ages and relate it to how many people where in crashed with that age group. which group was the largest you might find this study already done, and you can also relate to which age groups listen more to each type of music. Also a study that has most likely be already be done. just make sure you cite them and give them credit. the variable is driving, make sure you drive at the same time everyday on the same road with different people. maybe even a parking lot that is rarely used to control the variables. the only changing thing in the experiment should be the music and age of people. You will have to test a lot of adults, but thats why they suggest that you start these things early!

I once did "how music affects a plant's growth" :P

Get 3 plants. Get 3 different types of music (rock, classical...). then measure each day. You should get your results pretty soon.
