Logically the answer is no. So when and where did the idea of perfection come from? What was this concept based on? I have my own idea but would like to test it against any alternate thought from you out there.

Perfection started with Plato. Even then it was considered unattainable, that it was only a goal not an end unto itself. Now we say that perfection does not exist. Yet, most religionist will argue against the idea.

Perfection is the ideal of the universe. The growth of crystals, the progression of evolution, the constant movement towards perfect balance.

The concept of perfection? Is that not born with the selection of a mating partner in the lowest of evolutionary processes? The visual assesment of fitness? Do we not judge perfection even now as the fitness of any thing or being for it's purpose or place?

Ah well. I could be wrong.

I think so... If someone or something did in fact become 'perfect' then why wouldn't it/he/she be recognized as such? Some religions view God as a perfect entity, and yet others have flawed gods. I am a believer in the 'perfection does not exist' category. But if it did present itself, I'd acknowledge it as such.

maybe perfection is entirely self-contained and is automatically compromised by the act of observation. If it's being seen (or experienced in any way by "other") then it's in a dialectic relationship with the observer/s and cannot be assessed without beng behoven to the assessor.

The novelty of an item. The desire to obtain that which we do not have. Once the novelty wears off, it is no longer Perfect.
