I had a doc look at some spots on my back. If they were life threatening and really bad at this point in time would he have sent me to a dermatologist then, or just refer me to one and make me wait a month or 2.

Geez, I'd call back and find out for sure but in this day and age of suing doctors I'd think he'd cover his butt and get you right in to a dermotologist if it were truly serious. Anymore, I won't leave the doctor's office until I have answers. Trying to get hold of them later is harder. Just call and ask. You're paying him for his services.

If he knew that they were life threatening (malignant melanoma) he would have personally called the dermatologist to get you in right away. If he thought they were possibly precancerous, then he would have referred you to a dermatologist in the standard way. It takes time for precancerous lesions to turn into cancer.

All of this assumes that he is a good doctor. I wouldn't worry though, family practice doctors should be able to diagnose this correctly.

If there were a problem, he would have called you. If you want the results quicker, maybe you can call his office.
