I don't know if they crack but it can't be good for them. Temperature changes from night to day, and the plastic will contract and expand. The plastic may look all right, but look at the reflective material inside. You may see pinholes. In a good CD player, there may be no effect in the playback. When it comes to selling your CDs to a used buyer/seller, they may offer you a low buying price or they may reject your CD outright.
I have had CDs that I kept in a drawer in my bedroom and I played only tape copies or burned copies. I still had pinholes.

I don't believe so. I left a CD in -6 weather last night and was OK when I brought it in 12 hrs. later. I don't think plastic shrinks and expands that much. When I've left a CD in my desktop it often comes out almost hot to the touch and doesn't crack as it cools. If you want to be certain, just leave the CD in the case for awhile as it warms up.

They can, just like they warp in the hot summer heat. Depends on how cold. Right now it's minus 15 degrees and I wouldn't leave it out overnight.
