Thanks to president Bush, America has been politically castrated. At the moment, we are just a big dumb animal that will be slowly bled to death as the rest of the world takes our money while refusing to lift a hand to help us when we need it. And we will need help, because with most of the world against us we will eventually find ourselves left without critical intelligence information about a major terrorist attack, one so grand that it will make everyone forget about 9/11, that will cost millions (if not 10s of millions) of Americans their lives.
We have little to no influence on international politics. Instead of leading, we are stuck in the position of always having to respond and adjust to what others are doing. Leaders of what should be irrelevant countries like North Korea, Iran, and Argentina punk the US President to his face in front of the entire world, and all he can do is appear on TV like an illiterate, bumbling, over-the-hill bully whose pathetic threats bring nothing but laughter and ridicule from everyone.
We are like a huge tanker adrift with a broken rudder. That makes us a big, explosive, and all-to-easy target for everyone and anyone with a grievance against us – and the list just gets longer every day.

I think we should do what the British did after WW2: renounce our empire and turn our attention to being a good social democracy for our own citizens to live in.
We can either try to run the whole world (and mess it up worse, and make everybody else angry), OR we can become a great country for our own citizens - that means health care, education, modern infrastructure, and democracy here at home.
