I hope not. I am a teacher and I want to be included in the tax paying majority. Otherwise, I am not contributing my fair share to run the country. After all, I do receive the benefits of police protection, fire protection, protection from invasion, etc. If I did not pay taxes then I would feel like I was a taker and not a provider which goes against what I try to teach my students. On a different level, I want to obey my Lord and He did say to "render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar's and unto God that which is God's."

If you think of the actual number of citizens on government payrolls that would be a huge amount of money. Just think of the people on the local city government payroll in a city like New York. If you were to include all police, firemen, sanitation, engineers, ect.... they alone would lose millions of dollars each year. Sorry, everyone has to pay their way in this world. Why is it that so many think they "they deserve" something.

Public servants must not be exempt from paying taxes because it will be very hard for the private sector employees to take the brunt of the expenses of the government.

No way. They make income like the rest of us, so they pay taxes like the rest of us.

If anyone were to get that sort of break, it would have to be the military who put their lives on the line for less salary than teachers get.

No, and I say that as a teacher. The idea behind it is good, but that way lies all kinds of abuses.
