Is it possible? Sure. There are plenty of racers that got started in their late teens. You could be successful at racing.
But the fact that you're even considering a car makes me wonder if you have the passion needed to be a serious racer. To a racer the only use for a four wheeled vehicle is to haul bikes to the track. And the cars you're talking about don't have the room to haul a bike.
So, possibly, racing is not for you. Which doesn't mean you should give up on riding. Just on racing.
In the mean time work on getting good grades and getting through high school. Go to college so you can afford the bikes and cars that you want. Figure out how to use punctuation and spell check. And take some riding lessons before you buy a bike.

Matt , I have a 2nd cousin, who, in the early 50's when he entered high school had never held a basketball in his hands. 4 yrs. later he was given a scholarship to the University of Kentucky to play basketball. He was drafted by the pros but back then you could make as much money being a coach or working in a machine shop as a machinist so he declined the offer and became a teacher of science and a highschool basketball coach. You asked to be hit hard so here it goes,#1 the cars you mention are in the $32,000 - $40,000 range and at your age and being a male your insurance rates would equal your car payments and if your parents would not co-sign on the loan or insurance policy for you. and as a parent neither would I. Reason being if my Dad had put me in one of the muscle cars from the "60."s and early 70,s I would be dead today!! Now, how are you at riding these new BMX pedal bikes and have you tried riding over dirt courses with these pedal bikes.? As a parent I would help you get a 250cc-350cc dirt bike if you could at least pay for half of it. Oh Yea ,as far as being a pro that is where my cousin's story came into play. Have you checked out the go - cart scene lately? My neighbor's son has been racing these that run on alchohol and are a prerequisite to Nascar racing. After 2 yrs of racing here in Middletown O he became the track Champion at 14 yrs of age. As far as having a "little blood in ya" don't count for squat!!! Or else I would have went to the pros after having played in the SECC in college baketball. Remember ,you said "Hit Ya Hard" right?I had a Sears 50cc honda (a moped more or less) when I was 16 and got 2 of them that didn't run and a neighbor of mine was able to put one together for me and after a couple rides up and down the street he offered me twice what I had in the bike and I sold it($100) Now you are at a crossroad, should I go motocross or (forget the cars you mentioned) get a car ? Ever heard of "bracket racing"on the dragstrip? Talk about fun,You can take a 4 cyl Geo Metro and line up across from a Chevelle with a 396 eng and what they do is time the lights so that your est. time matches his estimated time so that both of you arrive at the end of the 1/4 mi dragstrip at the same time. Its whoever is able to "cut the light without redlighting taking off or busting out of the time ya got wrote on the windsheild wins ! You can run for trophies or run for money in your "time" bracket. When I was 21 yrs old I bought a Harley Superglide which weighed in at about 550 lbs and learned on it how to ride it(and if I had it to do over again I would never had bought such a big bike) Look ,There is a saying from the Bible, "Everything comes to those that wait" !! So if your parents won't let you get the bike ,in a few yrs you can get the bike on your own, OK ?

You definitly have a chance at becoming pro in motocross. Get a used bike at first -start with a 125cc. Go to as many trails as you can and just get a feel for riding. Next as with any sport it takes practice. Start going to tracks during open practices. Don't worry about getting air over the jumps the first fifty times around just go at your pace. You'll know when you are ready to push further. You will fall and make mistakes but thats how you learn to do it right. Most important have fun, and stay safe.

Being a dedicated rider takes alot of your energy from the rest of your everyday life. You don't just "become" a racer. You have to make tremendous sacrifices that don't just mean you might not get your WRX or EVO. You have to give alot of time to improving your riding. For you to even ask this question makes me think you should steer clear of bikes. If you were meant to do it you wouldn't be asking us. But if you think that yes, it IS what you want to do, then forget all about cars. Hear me? Forget them. Buy a van, or truck and a trailer FOR YOUR BIKES. You will be a rider then, and automobiles will mean nothing to you.

I think if you look around enough you might be able to find a decent dirt bike AND a decent car.
As for you dream - NEVER (let me restate - N E V E R) give up if that is truely what you want to do. At your age I would tend to say that your chances aren't that great.....(but what are you're chances if you DON'T give it a shot ???!??!?!?!??! ) Even if you DON'T make pro, you would probably still end up in the motorcycyling/ motocross world in some way........
As for getting hurt - yes, you probably WILL get hurt. But whether you let THAT stop you is up to YOU...........
Good luck !!!!!

Well something else to consider...being 16, you will have to have a parent on site that will sign permission for you to get on the track to race or practice. Have they said they will do this? And you are gonna need a trailer to haul the bike on, and something to haul it with. So you are gonna need more than just a bike.If your parents are against this, you should talk to them before you drop any cash on a bike. There are many other things to consider, money for gas to get to races, racing fees, helmet, racing outfit, etc. I hate for a kid to not see his dream, but my son races dirt track and I bought his helmet, and it has to be certain specs, it cost me $350.00 plus tax and shipping! His outfit was just as bad. There is alot more money involved than just the bike. So talk to your parents and take into consideration all the other money you will need. Good luck!

Whatever you purchase leaves you with the same age, same skills, & same clueless prospects. Save your money. Bicycle to
increase muscle tone, street smarts, & reflexes. At age 18
see USA recruiter. Choose the training you want, travel, &
get discharged with enough money to make your good life happen. Then, ask your Uncle if he can connect you with any ladies in Europe who might like to party with younger men.
