Yes you should be satisfied. Thats almost 5 mb if u mean megabytes, or 5 megabits if u mean megabits, which is an 8th of a megabyte, which = kilobytes, or about a half a megabyte.
So basically, you either have almost 5 megabytes, or about half a begabyte (probably that one) per second, which is very fast.

WRONG. download speeds do not go that high. Bandwidth for a connection does not go anywhere near either. It will be quoted in Megabits, not bytes. For a 6 MB downstream connection, 2KB (kilobytes) is not bad. There is a massive overhead in maintaining the connection, plus the requirement to verify packets received and request the next. Then whatever else the machine is doing will affect it, and the speed of your machine and disk.

yes.... most cable and dsl connections get a realistic 200 to 800 kps so a speed of 4.9kps is above average and a very good speed and well above average.... my first modem got a whooping 7k on a good day long long ago

it is the equivalent of 5 mbps downloads and 2 mbps upload.

Yeah, that's great, especially the upload rate. Most ISPs only give you 384k or 768k upload.
