i like to listen to music while i am sleeping, but everytime i buy a pair of headphones they hurt my ears after a while due to the pressure of them being squished against my ears while sleeping or they don't reach far enough and when i turn over the cord pops out waking everyone in the house and gets tangled around my head...it's annoying, is there a decent sounding pair of headphones out there that are comfortable while sleeping?

Any in-ear type headphones like the Shure E2c or Sony MDR-EX 71 are comfortable to wear for sleeping. I have been through many ear bud type headphones waking up in the middle of the night with sore ears and I haven't had a problem with the true in-ear style. I have the Shure E2c, they sound great and are very comfortable. They come with three different styles of ear pieces. For me, the soft rubber or foam ear pieces are the most comfortable. As for a long enough cord, you could find an extension for them at Radio Shack or someplace like that.
