It was working fine, but then I disconnected it and moved it to a different spot (under my desk) and then somehow the sound card I installed was not installed anymore. I reinstalled it and then went to get on the computer again and it just kept freezing. It progressively got worse til it now just freezes as soon as I turn the computer on and try to get to my system recovery screen. I can't even do a destructive recovery on my computer because it freezes and goes into an apparent standby mode that it won't get out of. Even when I unplug my computer the little light on the power button keeps flashing for like another minute. What should I do?

like you said your sound card was uninstalled by accident or by the pc itself. try taking out the sound card, maybe that's whats making you pc freeze. if you are able to boot into your computer then you know it's your sound card that's causing the problem. If no change. work backwards disconnect and uninstall any cards you have besides your video card which you will need. disconnect your cables for your floppy, cdrom and any extra hd you might have and try it again to boot up to windows. if you are able to boot to windows then turn off your pc and start connecting everything back one by one. you will find out like that what is causing you problems. I would start with the sound card first because it seems that is the problem. take it out and reboot

good luck

Try moving it back, it could be an electromagnetic field around the computer's area caused by a electrical outlet or radio waves.
Try disconnecting all wires leading to the computer
then reconnecting thme again (firmly)
you might just have a loose cable or sound card
if you know how, open the computer and try pushing all the cards back in such as your new soundcard, videocard, and other PCI cards

It is a common problem. You should try to boot your computer in safe mode. It it is not allowing you to even boot, then you should remove your memory ( ram ), clean it and reattach it to the slot. Remove the sound card which is showing problems. First let the computer normally then try to install it. It may work.

Remove the sound card and try to boot. It seems like you have a driver problem. You might have to install the driver first, then install the card.
