I promised to set up an Internet connection for my friend. What he has are a modem and a TV cable. So would that be Okay if I just plug the TV cable in the modem and then connect the modem with the PC? I think that a telephone wire would do the same work (maybe slower), am I right?

Thank you so much and have a great day!

You can connect by wiring either USB or Ethernet wired from the computer to the modem (depends on what kind of modem). The modem would then be connected to either a TV cable or a telephone line, depending on what Internet access he has available. The modem will work on either telephone or cable depending on what kind of modem it is.
The fastest Internet connection is cable TV. Next is DSL. Last is dial-up telephone. (There are faster connections but not for individual use, only commercial).

Cable Coax to Cable Modem
Cat 5 cable from cable modem to computer

if router is involved, the cat 5 from cable modem to WAN/Internet on the router....then another Cat5 from any of the open ports on the router to the computer.

Cat5 is simply a Ethernet/network Cable, which you can get from any computer store in 3, 6, 12, 25 and 50 foot lengths. I find that a 12 foot network cable is more than enough for a bedroom.....go longer if you want to locate the computer further from the modem........as in the case of a family room. keep the shorter cable for use between router and cable modem.

Yes, that are all correct. But I'm not 100% sure. Maybe someone else can help.
