well, i think that chance is actually really high.The chance of randomly generating a protein, even the simplest protein, is even smaller. For example, the chance of randomly generating lysozyme, one of the smallest proteins, is 1 to 6.8 x 10^167, which is smaller than a one in a googol chance (yes googol is a number, 10^100).
its really the fact that each protein has a specific amino acid sequence, or the primary structure. Proteins are made up of only 20 amino acids, but they can vary in length from hundreds to thousands of amino acids. And since each protein has a specific amino acid sequence, or at least only a few variants of it, the chance of generating it is enormously small.
