It is the brain in a computer. It does simple things like 1 + 0 = 1, and programs build up complex patterns of those instructions to give you what is sent to the monitor. There is one on everymotherboard, or else the computer can't work. Micro part comes from it being small chips, because they used to be huge seperate parts of the computer.
