No. I do not think that public schools should require their students to wear uniforms. Some students cannot afford to buy them. And, I do not believe that equality is formed when you force students to wear the same clothing. That is bull. Somebody will always be prettier, or smarter, or skinnier..... That's just the way it is.

The kids in our state are in uniform already and while some hate it most of the kids I have met don't mind them. Their thoughts are it's one less thing to think about in the morning. They are given the choice of navy blue or khaki on the bottom and the top has to be polo style shirts in an approved school color. They aren't really bad looking but not exactly cutting edge fashion and some kids hate that. I like the home school uniform better. What ever I want what ever the kids want to wear. It doesn't matter as long as the school day is finished at some point during the day.

One of the reasons grade school has them is so all kids look the same no name brands like Tommy etc...to show how much money they do or don't have...but the same could be said for uniforms because now there are name brand or store Brand uniforms so the same thing is just repeating itself....In High School it could go either way if high schools don't have uniforms they should at least require the students to dress properly..no shorts with the butt hanging half way out same with shirts...no pants hanging off the butt...No I don't think there should be uniforms but the way kids now dress at least while at the school itself should be a little better monitored

Personally, I would have hated to wear a uniform at my high school. It deprives students from expressing their individuality. There should be a dress code that should be strictly enforced but wearing uniforms at a public school is going over the top. For security reasons wearing a uniform is a great idea because then only enrolled students would be able to attend that school and there wouldn't be students from other high schools trying to visit their friends.

Sometimes I think they should use uniforms, but in reality, I think they need to have a dress code and ENFORCE IT.

At my daughter's high school they had t-shirts that they made girls wear if they had their stomachs or thongs showing out. They guys had rope that they had to use like hillbillies to hold up their sagging jeans and it was enforced.

You'd be surprised that grades actually went up in the school when admin made students aware that certain behavior was not going to be tolerated period. Students balked at first, but very shortly, students for the most part were able to settle down and began to realize that things they think are small really do matter.

I would have hated not being able to wear what I want but at the same time it does take away the pressure to have the right clothes and fit in with the crowd. In some ways it puts everyone on a level playing field.

Well it depends on the highschool. Ill be honest, there are some places where clothes are a huge problem. Gang colors or even stealing each others expensive shoes. BUT in most cases uniforms are stupid. They hinder each persons sense of individuality which I think lowers our abilities to think outside the box.

Now that's just silly. But it might be a good a idea for pupils to wear them. It might help reduce the culture of consumption. But I certainly don't think we should be dressing up schools.

NO.
They have rules for what we can and cannot wear already. If they give us uniforms they're contradicting themselves!! at my school at least, they're always telling us to be different, well if they give us uniforms, we'll all just be clones!!! DISGUSTING!
