With easy numbers like these, just do the list thing:

Multiples of 10 ... 10, 20, 30, 40
Multiples of 4 ... 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24

20 is the first one that matches, so 20 is the smallest multiple that 10 and 4 have in common -- the least common multiple.

To find LCM, break each number into its prime factors.

4 = 2^2
10 = 2 x 5

Use the largest power of each unique factor (2^2 and 5). Multiply them together to get the LCM
