My skin is normally dry. During the winter it gets VERY dry (itchy dry). I have tried Eucerine Calming Cream. It works a little but not as well as I'd like. I take lukewarm showers only for 5 minutes. I use a mild body-wash. I don't use all the same products from one brand (I've heard that helps). Lately, my chest has been very itchy and nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

I have had severely dry skin for years and only 3 things have helped. 1st I use Cetaphil soap free bar instead of a regular soap, it is much gentler. 2nd I have borderline Exzema and my doctor prescribed Triamcinolone cream and that stuff is phenomenal and CHEAP (maybe $5 for a big tube). One or two applications get rid of any scaliness and itching that comes from the dry skin. 3rd is Aquaphor healing lotion, it very thick but soaks in fast and works wonders as well.

I agree with a previous posting to find products with limited ingredients but you also may want to look int allergy testing. I discovered that I am allergic to Cocoa Butter and Lanolin and have to be very careful with my skin product choices.

The products that you use on your body can be all one brand, what matters the most is the ingredients in them. Read the ingredients and purchase those with 8 or fewer, it does make it harder to find, but they are better for you. Aveeno is a good brand, but some still have more than 8 ingredients. When you are done with your shower, pat dry your skin, do not rub. While the skin is still damp rub lotion into your skin. Be sure that you also drink plenty of fluids to keep the skin moisturized from the inside. Taking daily dosages of fish oil capsules also helps
