Why can't I get audacity working. My pc freezes each time I press on 'record'. Soundman, I think you can help

I have done the necessary connection, have music playing on my pc speakers from the cassette player. Audacity has been downloaded; however, when I attempt to record, the cursor moves very fast to the other end and the pc freezes. Please, any suggestions?..in particular, 'Soundman' could be of help. Thanx

ooohhhh I've not seen that before!
I'm afraid it's the usual answers at this point... uninstall Audacity, reboot and reinstall. Sorry for the lame answer, but I really don't know why you have got this problem..

You could have just emailed me you know....
