I'm afraid that the things I say to myself (the negative voice in my head) wield a strong influence on my life. If someone were to say those things to me, I would defend myself. I would tell them to shut up. Tell them that they're wrong or being unfair. But when it's just a thought in my head, I listen to it. I let it affect me. What others say to me, positive & negative, has an impact as well. I tend to listen more to the negative unfortunately. I'm trying to be more positive. It's an uphill battle!

Because what you say is usually a reflection of what you think, what you say reaffirms what you think and amplifies the power of thought and auto-suggestion. Just think of one person singing a note, and then another person joins in singing the same note in unison. When this happens, the sound is amplified and carries. In much the same fashion, words add power to thoughts.
What others say can influence you by heterosuggestion, especially when it is something you hear repeatedly, and from different sources. When you are constantly being told something repeatedly, it can seep into the level of assumption. Even if it is something you disagree with or would rather not hear, when you can at least assume that you will hear it from some source, it is more than likely that you've already been subconciously making decisions based on the assumption. This is how the words of others can impact the quality of your life.

Words have power, to hurt, to heal, to bring happiness, to comfort, lets face it words stimulate the senses....when the words are used appropriately, effectively they have power.

In my life and work, using the right words is paramount if I'm going to get across an important message in order for me to be understood by client/colleagues/ family, so i guess words have influence and impact to a degree in most peole's lives unless communication is not their strongest point, or maybe their vocabulary is limited in some way, i like to express myself in many ways, words is just one of those ways.

What I say usually ends in me getting slapped, hit, or naked in a field with a 2-day memory gap. The things other people say haven't really gotten through yet...
